Busy busy busy. I'm so exhausted. There's simply been too many things happening this semester! There seems to be so many big events (or at least events that were intended to be big) happening back to back. Just in the past three weeks, we've had a Tembusu Forum, Family Day, and our inaugural dinner. Next weekend it's Sport's Day.
In between these events were many other distractions like the lifts deciding not to work at breakfast time. Most of us thought it was just poor timing on the OHS's part, which had sent out an email the day before telling us the lifts would be down for re-programming at about ten. Turns out the lifts actually "broke down", and when it came back on at ten they were re-programmed. Hmm. We'll take their word for it.
In other news, the dining hall is finally serving dignified peanut butter. Yes. It sounds like a joke, but the bigger joke was the watery mess they served us previously.
Thank you Compass!

Keeping things in balance. Or not.
As with many of my posts are, this is really overdue. But these past two weeks (gosh, is that all it has been?) has been really exciting. If you'd ask me, this sem has started of busier than any other sem in Tembusu thus far. We've had so many things going on back to back, it almost hard to breathe!
The energy in the college has been great though. The current freshies are lapping up all the action, and it's quite refreshing to see them bursting with enthusiasm. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming house and CSC elections. I'd like to see what these guys are really made of when it's their turn to take over.

Tembusu Forum: Climate Change
In view of the previous Tembusu Forum, I made two predictions about future Forums. Here they are:
1) There will be at least one ambassador at each event
2) The first presenter will be an ambassador, to set the grounds of the discussion
And guess what? I was right! There was one ambassador, Ambassador Burhan Gafoor, last night, and he was the first speaker.
Other than that, I didn't find the forum very satisfying. It was really linear, and far too optimistic. All the speakers agreed that Climate Change was a pressing and complex problem, but none of them had the balls to admit the aspects of the issue that are beyond them.
I also disliked it that the forum turned out to be largely one-sided. There were a few interesting points and perspectives here and there, but none of them were thoroughly explored.
I don't even have the heart to go on about this.
Anyway, Prof. K didn't chair this forum because he was unwell. Prof. C did it in his place. It's a shame, really, because I was looking forward to hearing Prof. K speak about a topic so close to his heart.
Oh well. Get well soon, Prof K.

Questions
I realize it's about time I open an outlet for readers to ask questions. It'll do me good as well because I need to hear what you guys and gals would like me to write about. If you prefer to send an email directly, you can contact me at tembutree at gmail dot com.
Ask away!
