Leaving and Learning

Dear friends,

The time has come. This will be my closing post for this blog. I may come back to put up a piece reflecting on the lessons learnt from this project, but no promises.

There are three things I'd like to address:

First things first. My name is Jonathan.

My face

Tembusu College has been my second home for two and a half years since I started university. I loved every minute of it. I completed the UTown College Program (UTCP) and one semester of the Third Year Experience.

My house was Shan, where I served as a Residential Assistant for a year.

I wrote for tStudios and Breakfast Network. I performed in a musical. I read poems with my friends.

I leave Tembusu with many friendships and fond memories, the two things I treasure most from my time there. It's sad to leave, but I've gone. For now... (hopefully?)

Which brings me to my second point. I'm closing this blog mainly because I'm on a student exchange in Dublin. If you're interested, I keep another blog about that.

But yes, even though there's still stuff about Tembusu I'd like to write about, I figured it wasn't fair to do so. Mostly because I'm no longer physically there to observe the going-ons in college to support my views.

The other reason partly explains the decline in postings for the past few months: I don't have the time.

Not to say that this project hasn't been a valuable learning experience, it's just that there I have many other competing interests. It's one of those good bad things about Tembusu. There is like an attention economy where demand of interesting things to do exceeds the supply of time and energy.

In other words, I feel like this blog has just about fulfilled its worth both for the college, and for me.

So, finally. I'd like to thank my readers for following this blog. It was tricky going about writing about Tembusu incognito. There was little chance for the blog to be found, much less taken seriously. So thank you all for reading.

And well, if you haven't read any of it, I hope you'll enjoy what you'll find.

Sincerely,
Gint/ Jonathan
