Keep More Seniors

So the Tembusu office recently sent me an email asking about my interest in extending my stay here in Tembusu College. They're calling it the Third Year Experience. Don't laugh.

I'd really like to know how many seniors they will be keeping though. I can't comment much about it because all the Third Year Experience is at the moment, is pretty vague.

But, I do think it's important to keep as many seniors as it is possible to. For one, to help establish the college culture/ identity. Considering that residence in Tembusu lasts only two years (by default), then culture/ identity of the college would be quite transient. There'll be entirely new cohorts every two years or so, so the dynamics of the college can change pretty fast.

That need not be a bad thing, but there are limitations to that. IGs might become an even more unstable entity. How the alumnus would react to a fast changing college culture would also be unpredictable.

Also, I think that seniors would make good mentors. There probably isn't a need to formalize any such program. I reckon this mentorship would be taken on by seniors quite naturally, since we all live so closely. In general, I also find the current seniors are more settled (than the first/ second years), which could provide some balance to the college dynamics – especially during the first semester when the freshmen are a bit hyper.

And to some degree I think you'll tend to find more seniors who are intellectual. Perhaps this comes with being more settled and having academic training? Then again it could just be how they were selected to begin with.

Either way it's pretty important to keep seniors who would have a presence in the college. They don't have to be well known or popular, but I supposed involved enough with the college community such that they can continue making a positive impact.
